When decorating your home or business, every detail matters. From the furniture you choose to the colour of the walls, each element contributes to the overall character and style of the space. One often overlooked aspect of interior design is picture framing. While it may seem like a minor detail, the right frame can enhance the beauty of your artwork and tie together the entire room. That's where bespoke picture framing comes in.

Here are five reasons you should consider bespoke framing:

1. Customisation

One of the most significant advantages of bespoke picture framing is the ability to customise every aspect of the frame to suit your preferences and the artwork itself. Unlike ready-made frames that come in standard sizes and styles, bespoke framing allows you to choose the materials (glass, mounts and mouldings), colours, finishes and even the size of the frame to complement the piece and the surrounding decor. Whether you have a contemporary masterpiece, cherished family heirloom or military memento, we’ll ensure that it gets the careful attention it deserves.

2. Preservation

Artwork, photographs, and other memorabilia are often precious possessions that hold sentimental value or are significant investments. Proper conservation framing is essential for preserving these items and protecting them from damage caused by light, dust, moisture, mould, insects and mishandling. Bespoke framing offers the advantage of using conservation or archival-quality materials and techniques that provide maximum protection against deterioration or damage. From UV-protective glazing to acid-free mounting boards, we prioritise the longevity of your artwork, ensuring that it remains in pristine condition for years to come.

3. Enhanced Aesthetics

The right frame can significantly enhance a piece of art, photograph or poster from ordinary to extraordinary. With bespoke picture framing, you have the freedom to choose a frame that complements the style and colour palette of the piece and the room theme where it will hang. Whether you prefer a minimalist and modern frame or a classic and ornate design, we can create a frame from the hundreds of mouldings that we stock to sensitively enhance the visual impact of the artwork, without overwhelming it. And creative design elements such as double or triple mounts, floating mounts, shadow box framing and custom finishes, adding depth and dimension to your piece.

4. Protecting Your Investment

When you opt for bespoke framing, you're not just purchasing a frame; you're investing in protecting your valued investment. At Old Shop Framing, we understand the importance of preserving the integrity and value of your artwork, which is why we use only the highest quality materials and techniques. By entrusting your masterpiece, moment, memorabilia or memento to us, you can trust that we will treat it with utmost care, and frame it to ensure its longevity and protect its investment value.

5. Personalised Service

Perhaps one of the most significant benefits of choosing bespoke picture framing is the personalised service you receive from start to finish. Unlike mass-produced frames that offer limited options and impersonal shopping experiences, we’ll work closely with you to understand your vision, preferences and budget. Whether you're framing a single piece of artwork or an entire gallery wall, we can provide expert guidance and advice at every step of the process, ensuring that you're delighted with the end product.
From initial consultations to final collection, bespoke framing offers a personalised and enjoyable experience that you won't find anywhere else.

Don’t Settle For Off-The-Shelf Framing Options

Choosing off-the-shelf picture frames may seem convenient, but they often lack the personal touch and quality craftsmanship that bespoke framing provides. Whether you’re framing artwork, a photograph or a military item, your piece deserves more than a generic frame - it deserves a custom solution tailored to its unique dimensions, style and significance.
